Many of those later came to Canada\, where they were finally given a chance to live freely and to prosper with their families. \nMany remaining in Serbia still live the life of the war refugees. \nCanadian men and women in uniform by honoring their task within the UN peacekeeping mission stood firmly by trying to prevent the Exodus and to protect the civilians. They did it with conviction and commitment of true Canadians. \n\n

This year’s festival is also a celebration of a key historical event that changed the course of history in Hamilton: the 120th anniversary of the first hydro-electric power transmission to the City from Decew Falls in Thorold – making it the first electric city in Canada. \nThis is a free event.
