DESCRIPTION:November 12th\, 2023\n\n\nTwo events to mark 125 Years of Hydro Power in Hamilton\n\n\nNikola Tesla Educational has spearheaded this joint initiative with the City of Hamilton through the Public Art Process.\n\n\nThe sculpture by Lilly Otasevic was designed to tell the story of Hamilton\, the first major city in Canada to have Hydropower. Power came from the DeCew I Power Generating Station\, which has been referred to as;\n“The Cradle of Canadian Hydro Electric Industry.”\n\n\nThe grand opening of the station\, it was observed;\n“Saturday November 12th (1898) will go down\, in the electrical annals of Canada\, a red letter day\, as it will chronicle the formal opening of the electric power plant of the Cataract Power Company of Hamilton.”\n\n\nThe unveiling of the Sculpture will be exactly 125 years from the above noted milestone.\n\n\nRight after the Unveiling\, head over to the Cataract Power Building for a Wine Tasting featuring wines from Leaning Post Winery of Stoney Creek. While you enjoy sampling the wine\, hors d’oeuvres & cheese will be served. Enjoy the music and good company of friends.\n\n\nDiscover and tour this UNIQUE historic building that served as the initial power sub-station for the City of Hamilton in the early 1900s.
